This is a film with casting to die for. Pam Ferris makes a marvellous Miss Trunchbull who is a force to be reckoned with. Mara Wilson is excellent in the title role and together with Danny DeVito who plays her car salesman father and Rhea Pearlman who plays her bingo loving Mother, they make a very entertaining threesome to watch. Matilda is a very talented young lady with some surprising gifts and the film shows her experiences at a nightmare school which is run by the formidable Miss Trunchbull. This film has lots of laugh out loud scenes, and a very happy ending. A delight to watch again and again.
