Solid and unglamorous...

This Norwegian film reminded me, in many ways, of the Danish film Flame & Citron, and that, for me, is no bad thing at all. It shared the same approach of a solid, unglamorous portrayal of life in war, with a flawed, credible central character.
The action pieces were limited which, I imagine is more in keeping with the truth of things, but the action was well done when it did make an appearance.
I knew nothing of Max Manus before watching this film and it was good enough to make me want to find out more about him and the Norwegian resistance movement.
