Max Payne

Director John Moore
Run time 100 mins Certificate 15

This HAD to be different from the game it is based on. Afterall I've seen a few, and read a few reviews of films that play out like videogames and it just doesn't work. Final Fantasy is the prime example of a videogame to film transfer, that forgets that it IS now a film...

Max Payne's effects which made the game so enjoyable to play are close to the end of the film by and large, and this is to its credit as it only makes you pay attention to the story more. If it was all bangs and flashes in slow motion then this film would recieve criticism for being too much like the original game I feel.

The story loosley encompasses the plot of the game and adds new dynamics and perspectives that the GAME at the time would not have been able to acheive convincingly. If you wanted a shot for shot celluloid version of the game then you will be dissapointed, if however like myself, you can ignore the source material and watch it for what it is (A semi-supernatural thriller) you wont be offended!
