McCallum without McCallum. Taggart without Taggart. What are things coming to?

This DVD is as good as the first four, but John Hannah is not in it, and if, like me, you watch McCallum because of John Hannah, it's a bit of a disappointment. Also, only one episode plus a 'feature' interview, compared with 2 on previous DVDs.

However, the plot is excellent, the new man is fine, the action is excellent and it will keep you guessing until the end.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHide

Discs 1-4 Really great to watch again after all these years!

But Disc 5, [Episode 9] was a Total waste of Rental AND time:

1: No John Hannah! So No McCallum!!!

    2: Ridiculous storyline about 'Paddy'

3: So Called Special Feature Supposed to be Shot making a 2nd Season, Far TOO SHORT: Useless Interviewer, daft Questions! Interview all about 1st 8 episodes.

I cannot imagine how this series went on so long. The plots are preposterous and repetitive, the acting is so-so and John Hannah must be one of the least charismatic actors ever to star in a series, second only to the boring John Nettles

I have forgotten how much I loved McCallum. This is a British version of CSI without all the CGI!!

Interesting plot lines. McCallum is always right (just like Grissom!) and I like the supporting cast. What a shame they never made another series!
