To sum up a 3 hour movie into 3 sentences basically Death is bored of being Death and wants to see what its like to have a life. He takes the form of Brad Pitt who is supposed to reap Anthony Hopkins. He makes a deal with Hopkins that he will give him more time if he allows him to be part of his and his families lives. Throw in a bit of romance and evil business partners and you have the film.
The main problem with the film is the length, i don't mind long movies but this movie does seem to drag in places. There are long scenes of dialogue which if they had been well written would have been fine but the are not and they seem to last forever.
The cast have all been better in other projects and some members of the cast seem wasted. Being a massive Arrested Development fan i was looking forward to seeing Jeffery Tambor but they didn't give him a lot to do. It was the same story with Marcia Gay Harden.
There were some good points the chemistry between Pitt and Claire Forlani was very good and the scenes they had together were enjoyable even with the cheesy dialogue.
I also really liked the score
On the whole I was a little disappointed, there were good moments but they were few and far between, you could probably cut at least 45 minutes out without changing the movie too much.
