Min-Ah discovers a shared diary and is soon fascinated to learn that two people she thought to be very close friends have in fact begun a forbidden romance at her school. She finds herself unable to tear her eyes away from the literally page-turning high drama of her classmates' lives, and the allure of the secret diary begins to take over. When one of the diary's writers is found dead from an apparent suicide, rumors spread and Min-Ah begins to feel a strange presence. The once-tranquil school is transformed into a place of morbid terror, as if the words written in the journal, "memento mori" (remember the dead), have come to life.

Memento Mori is frightening in the way The Others of Sixth Sense should have been
It does not surprise me some people dislike this film so much. They expected it to be a horror film of Whispering Corridors kind (Memento Mori is supposedly a sequel to WC). So if you're looking for some out-and-out scare that makes you clinch, look elsewhere.
Having said that, Memento Mori is definitely worth a viewing. It is a hearbreakingly beautiful love story, which happened between 2 highschool girls. But again, if you're after some tawdry Sapphism, don't see this film. To be concise, it's about love, passion, confusion, identity, acceptance..., emotional aspects of teenage.
I hope by now I've made you want to see this film. If I haven't then I didn't do Memento Mori justice.
Finally, don't be put off if you don't get a grip on what's going on on 1st viewing. The story is told via flashbacks rather than chronologically, which could be confusing. After seeing it for the first time, think about it, and then you might want to see it again.
An unimpressive tale of jilted lesbian love and preternatural revenge in a Korean all girl school.
