A good fun film
By Robert from Nottingham , 07 Sep 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
This is a good, fun film directed by John Carpenter, staring Chevy Chase, who can be quite funny, and Kill Bill's Elle Driver, Daryl Hannah.
I'd recoment renting it.- Was this review helpful to you?

(6)Memoirs of the Invisible Man [Chevy Chase]
By lastengland (81 reviews) from Winchester , 06 Apr 2010I saw this last year in Dorset on holiday [they have digital & we don't], and just had to borrow it to watch again. The effects are so amazing, any smokers out there may not like one bit!!
Sam Neill's character is just nuts - a must see- Was this review helpful to you?

Doesn't feel like Carpenter
By Selfy (105 reviews) from Newcastle upon Tyne , 15 Jun 2008I remember loving this when I was a kid - curse my enthusiasm for John Carpenter and the desire to rewatch all of his films. Childhood appreciation is now replaced with a deflated shrug.
Out of all of his films, this feels the least like he had anything to do with it. The shift from horror/sci-fi/fantasy/thriller to comedy just doesn't sit right, since the film really isn't that funny. It's also not that particularly exciting, and the visual effects, while surely impressive back in the day, only go to show just how far we've come in fifteen years.
There's nothing I could point to and say 'Carpenter did that'. It feels very much like a tired old studio movie, and the master of so many genres slumming it for a paycheck.- Was this review helpful to you?

Carpenter carves another classic
By Grabs from W. Sussex, England , 26 Nov 2006Intelligent film-making from John Carpenter. Addresses some of the actual nitty gritty of suddenly becoming invisible (i.e. what would it actually be like?), hence creating good comedy situations, but also making you believe in it more. Good strong story gives Chevy something to get his teeth into and so prove he can actually act and Daryl Hannah more than just a pretty face etc. Sam Neil of course makes exellent bad guy.- Was this review helpful to you?

Carpenter And Chase A thrilling combo
By Geoff Clayton from Birmingham , 19 Jun 2006I first saw this film on sky years ago, now here it is on dvd for us to enjoy again and again, Sam Neill, as the baddie is superb, and Chevy Proves there is an actor there for us to see, fast paced, and hugely entertaining, John Carpenter's Direction is brilliant, then again would we expect anything less, but he comes up trumps- Was this review helpful to you?
