I had never seen series 1 before and now that I have I can't see how the show actually went to a second series. I'm glad it did because the later series are all brilliant but avoid this one. You get nothing from it.
I'd never seen the first series and thought I'd give it a go. I was really disappointed at how slow it was compared to later series and how unsuited Harry Enfield was for the part of Gary's flatmate. There were a few really funny moments which had me rewinding and watching over and over, but none involved Enfield. Pity, as his own shows are brilliant yet MBB doesn't quite gel without Neil Morrisey. It's worth a watch just for the novelty of seeing how it all began.
A first series is always difficult to judge but I felt that at times they didn't know where it was heading.
For sure, there were some funny moments but it took a while to happen and by the time it did it was almost over.
Harry Enfield didn't seem quite right in the part and didn't really click with Neil Morrissey like Martin Clunes does in the other series.
Still, a decent insight into the making of a great comedy that lasted for years.

Recommended if you're a fan, and want to see how the programme started but otherwise it's not brilliant. Harry Enfield's character-or his acting, I'm not sure- is utterly slimy and cringeworthy and is nothing on loveable yet laddish Tony.
Brill for the cultural references though considering it wasn't THAT long ago.... videos, tapes and best of all superskinny Leslie Ash in what is considered attractive in the 90's =dodgy blue dungarees and a bright orange jumpsuit underneath.

An excellent example of true british comedy very funny worth a watch.
It might have been funny at the time but now it is just dull and cringeworthy. The only thing worth mentioning is Trout Pout and her hideous 80's fashion.
Not the series that you should show someone who has never seen this show before. No dis-respect to Harry Enfield or the writing staff, but the show become an amazingly better show from the start of series 2 with Neil Morrissey.
Best advice i can give is to make sure you have seen series 2-6 first and then know you like it before watching this series. I personally have all 6 series on DVD and always endup missing series 1 and just watch the others!
Worth watching once you know this type of show is your thing, and you can watch it as a start to seeing the other 5 series!
I never bothered to watch this as I didn't think it would be the same without Neil Morrissey but Harry Enfield is brilliant in this first series. Great DVD. Recommended
I've never seen the whole of the first series of Men Behaving Badly and it was great to finally watch. Harry Enfield is funny but i have to say, knowing the latter episodes with Neil Morrisey I found it probably wasnt as good as it later became. Still very worth watching for a few giggles.
