A typical start, but stick with it.

This is an odd reimagining of the classic Arthurian legends; for one, the language isn't quite what you'd expect, with most of the younger characters speaking in almost modern day slang, whilst older characters do tend to err on the side of Old English.

Like the beginnings of most shows, the first few episodes are unremarkable and don't really catch the imagination very much. However, from around episodes 3 and 4, the beginnings of an overarching plot appear, and I suggest you stick with it through to this point, because Merlin definitely does start an upward turn in quality here. I hope this continues into Volume 2 and beyond.

Usually, my parents end up buying pretty much any film that is released. I'm here to pick up the bits and pieces that either slip under their radar or don't appeal to them, so that I can sample them for myself.
