Merlin is a fantastic series, and really moved up a gear in terms of emotional impact in the second half of series 2.

The two male leads who play Arthur (Bradley James) and Merlin (Colin Morgan) both have their chances to show what they can do as actors. There are some real moments of acting brilliance in these episodes, and while the humour is still there, some of the scenes are incredibly moving.

The chemistry between Merlin and Arthur is what lifts this show above the norm, and their relationship continues to develop from servant / master (where it started way back in series 1) to something much closer to a genuine and equal friendship.

As always in Merlin this also has wonderful sets, music, costumes, action, adventure and comedy. Highly recommended.

How to reboot a well-known legend

If the present fashion for re-booting famous stories and films has to happen, then this is the definitive way to do it! Superb episodes with plenty of action, not only the special effects kind, but real drama which can only happen when you have actors who have a gift for their craft and directors who know how to direct! This series has received accolades from all over the world, and rightly so.

Great second series

The acting is better, the story is more intriguing and I cannot wait for the third series. If you liked the first series you will love this!!
