Bring me a bucketBy princenaz from West Yorkshire , 01 Jun 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]Kevin Costner plays a soppy lad who wrote some letters to his late wife and threw them in the ocean. A lonely woman walks by who also happens to be a reporter and picks up the bottle and reads the very personal message to the ghost.
The emotional aspects of the story are then completely ruined by fake soppiness and weak acting by the lead actress. She traces the man down and for falls in love with him for no particular reason at all except that he wrote his feelings down and put them into a bottle.
This film is definitely not one for the lads and I wouldn't recommend it to the ladies either. It can cause mental anguish and there is no humour either. I would recommend this film to anyone who would like to spend the entire day throwing up or feeling really depressed. Not only is the theme depressing but the film is too.

a must see romance with a unexpected twistBy chloeeeeeeeee (2 reviews) , 18 Feb 2013such a great storyline!, a very emotional romance film which isnt just one of those every day romace films with the same old story. just as you think everythings going to be great for the couple to be and they will live happily ever after a massive and i mean massive! disaster happens which you'd never even imagine happening, it actually made me cry for days! would watch it again and again and sob my heart out everytime! a must see for anyone at all, even if your not fond of the romantic genre this is a whole other situation! and thats coming from someone who has seen thousands of amazing films. this film is by far one of the best films ive ever watched i definitly reccomend to all ages, unforgettable film!

message in a bottleBy a customer , 14 Feb 2013This film achieved the stars it got more through the ending than the film in general. I think if Kevin Kostner had got to shore the film would of been very very trashie. Nice to see Paul Newman again.

[Highly rated reviewer]Watched this with my wife who enjoys this type of gentle, nice & romantic film. It's well done, although a little far-fetched in places - and she's not entirely truth-full and you kinda know what will happen - and it does. But overall a nice enjoyable film that's worth watching.
Must see RomanceBy blowdybummum (13 reviews) from Bexleyheath , 30 Dec 2012After reading this Nicholas Sparks book, the film was a very enjoyable watch and compares closely to the book. Enjoyed with a tear, by my family and my older parents. Beautifully acted with convincing characters..
Let DownBy a customer , 04 Jul 2012I'm a huge lover of Nicholas Sparks' novels and have watched all the film adaptions of his novels there currently are. This film, like all the others, is a let down after the book. So many things are changed or left out that the beautiful essence just isn't captured on camera. This particular film being one of the worst of the adaptions. Switched off after half an hour. I would recommend either trying the film without having read the novel or just reading the novel.
