Murphy returns to familiar ground, as a smart, wise-cracking cop, but the style has worn thin through overuse; cast and director go through their predictable motions in an efficient but uninspired manner.

Kyle Maclachlan was stunned after watching his camp classic Showgirls for the first time - he had assumed the stripper movie would be a "hard-hitting" drama. The film, starring Elizabeth Berkley as an exotic dancer in Las Vegas, was universally panned by critics after its release in 1995 and went on to become a cult favourite.
