If you can ignore those terrible sideburns you could put this film into any era and it would still play out, although I found it quite quirky that it was based in the 70's, look out for the old ASDA logo! Although not an action film, it gives the actors a real chance to work on their characters and bring them to life with an interesting look at friendship, marriage and relationships in general. The acting was top notch from Christian Bale and Emily Watson, who work very well together (see Equilibrium). Not one to rave over but if you like your dramas, then this is worth a look.
