Michael Ball, the best musical theatre tenor of his generation, in a knockout programme.
Michael Ball as you've never heard him before! Literally true, as this show (part of the 'Divas at the Donmar' series) consists entirely of over 50 songs (or parts of songs) he's never sung before - ranging from Al Jolson and Judy Garland to David Bowie's 'Life on Mars'! All are excellently and sensitively performed, with brilliant piano accompaniment from Jason Carr, and there's also an interesting interview section explaining how the show was put together. Highly recommended to fans of musical theatre.
Let's say I'm glad I did not pay to see it.Definitely not impressed.
