Made by Elizabeth Hurley and Hugh Grant's production company Simian Films this was a commercial success for the pair (now parted). Grant is sublimely ridiculous as an English auctioneer in New York, who learns that marrying sweetheart Jeanne Tripplehorn means getting spliced to the Mob. Tripplehorn's father, James Caan, is the local don and Grant quickly finds himself up to his neck in linguini as he fakes the identity of out-of-town mobster “Mickey Blue Eyes”. This is gently entertaining and a sure-fire crowd pleaser.

Intermittently amusing comedy of a clash between two cultures, though the mechanical contrivances of farce take over from the intended romantic comedy, and Grant's act as a floppy-haired bumbler is wearing a little thin.

    Not his best

This is definately not Hugh Grant at his best. It took me three attempts to make it through this one. Quite boring overall.

    Light comedy

If you fancy an easy going light comedy with a bit of romance - this is good! To please the action lover, the Mob features so that should keep the men amused!

    Really enjoyable!
