Compelling.

Coupled with Mississippi Burning as Alan Parker's best directorial acheivement. If mental illness doesn't dissuade you from smoking hash then this'll probably put you off crossing any borders with it!- Was this review helpful to you?

(73)ONE OF THE BEST FILMS EVER MADE. Up there with "One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest".
By FRENCHIEX (84 reviews) from London , 06 Jan 2013made one year before I was born, this film has not dated as much as me:) I have watched it many times growing up and even recently and also read the book (it's NOT as good) and this story is always so gripping, tragic and infuriating. You will feel his anger, humiliation, rage and eagerness to go etc. You will also never ever want to cross borders with anything remotely illegal again. You will never do it in Turkey to boost. Brad davis is outstanding in this film and such a shame he died not long after I believe. The soundtrack is also a great piece of history, one of the best scores ever wriiten.- Was this review helpful to you?
