Most helpful review
A thoroughly enjoyable intelligent drama
By D .N from Leicester, England , 17 Jan 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
Its fabulous opportunity to see a real classic drama based on the wonderful writer Minette Walters book. As with her books, the drama follows Minette Walters style, so fans of hers wont be disappointed, as the characters are introduce with an intriguing start, that engages you, as the plot deepens so does your understanding of the individuals, their strengths, weaknesses, alliances, fights and their personal struggles, past and present. Within moments you will want to know more, yet the more you know the more there is to find out..
Set around the disappearance of Phoebe Mayburys husband, ten years earlier, of course ask the people in the village, they will tell you their suspicions of what happen to him, but finding proof is another matter, and of course the things that they could tell you about the goings on of the three woman living together, ask the original police investigator he knows but didnt have the proof, didnt have a body. Now after all these years a body, a body that has been there a long time has been found, in the ice house.
The cast are excellent, see for yourself, none could disappoint. If you enjoy good drama, well acted, that allows the story and the characters to develop, at a tempo that balances with the plot, that engages your mind, your emotions and your interest then I recommend The Ice House

The Ice house
By a customer from Leeds , 16 Jan 2008An excellent adaptation of a brilliant novel by one of the best crime writers around. This was very 'true ' to the book and I wasn't at all dissapointed, well barring Daniel Craigs scottish accent that is!- Was this review helpful to you?

Very good drama
By Anne Mears from Yeovil , 28 Oct 2006Another convoluted story from Minette Walters which translates very well to film. The only snag with these are that you can never really feel any empathy for the characters, as they're all pretty weird and unlikeable! Good story as always of course, well worth a watch.- Was this review helpful to you?
