It's only a mirage, I'm afraid ...
By Mirage from UK , 05 Feb 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
For the first time, Lovefilm recommended a film that I actually like! Unfortunately, it's but one of the huge number of films that they feature on their site that are not actually available on DVD in the UK or, in the case of Mirage, anywhere else. So it's a bit of a waste of time recommending it, really. And why on earth do they waste their and our time by listing DVDs that they do not have now and may never have? But as for MIRAGE itself, well it's an unaccountably hard-to-find film that was quite popular when it came out in 1965, it's a pretty good amnesiac mystery with good NYC locations and a nice turn from Walter Matthau. The ending is an anti-climax, but it's gripping stuff til that point, with Gregory Peck slowly piecing together the pieces of a psychological puzzle. All the crud that's on DVD and you can't get MIRAGE: what a world, eh?- Was this review helpful to you?
