(3)Christie would be proud!
By a customer from Bognor Regis , 01 Aug 2009I just read a review by Jezz in Newcastle, It's petty but I think I should point out Martine McCutechon isn't in this programme. If he is referring to the actress who played Verity she is called Laura Michelle Kelly. Who I have to agree is brilliant! I thought the programme was very good and did the book justice. I did find it quite long though and certain parts were a little drawn out. Overall though I found it exciting and gripping and sometimes quite chilling.
Would certainly recommend. All performances were very good but that was to be expected from such a great cast. I particularly liked Richard E Grant's performance.- Was this review helpful to you?

Excellent acting, great stories, well produced
By a customer from Battersea, South Chelsea, London , 20 Nov 2008I'm not sure why the Geraldine McEwan series of 'Marple' has come in for so much critisism. The usual argument is 'too much license with storylines' 'too many ITV celeb actors' and 'McEwan isn't as good as Joan Hickson'. well, I've watched the Hickson series and, as good as it is, I much prefer these new versions. Mainly for the fact they are shot in the style of films rather than tv programmes. There are some clever camera shots, and an almost camp sense of over the top drama at times, which is something I associate - rightly or wrongly - with Agatha Christie's work anyhow. The 1950's styling of the productions are superb. McEwan plays her part with a real sparkle in her eye. I'm afraid I found Joan Hickson rather dull and dry in comparison. I would thoroughly recommend this latest series of dvd's.- Was this review helpful to you?
