An action movie that is no different than 500 others before - simplistic story, lots of baddies, car chases, explosions, ridiculous stunts, very poor lines ('Ethan what are you doing with that gun?'). And lots of self-indulgence of Mr. Cruise. Very average, if not poor. Really nothing special and you need to be an MI / Cruise junkie to enjoy this one.
Very predictably, the third movie in a trilogy is usually crap. MI3 is not the exception. The plots are convoluted and preposterous -- the keyword in the title is 'Impossible' - the latest is just this side of insultingly STUPID. The boy meets girl part is overly Hollywood and predictable. The characters are poorly developed and shallow (bringing out Cruise's emotional side fails completely - mostly it is the actor we see, not the character). The longer you think about it, the less sense it all makes. The biggest problem is that it fails to excite despite all the action. There is no suspense, no adrenaline, no surprise.
This sequel is also very fomulaic - it feels like yet another repeat of the previous MI films. The explosions, gun fights, car chases, ridiculously impossible stunt scenes are overly familiar and more and more resemble any other cheap 'TV rip off quality' action movie. The formula is very dated ! It is dull !
Don't watch it - it's a waste of time !
This film is the third installment from Tom Cruise about a secret agent. I really enjoyed this movie. The action went from start to finish without really letting up and the acting was fairly good. For the action alone I give it 4 stars.
i own mi1 and mi2..mi2 is the best action movie i've seen..but mi3 is not worth calling a sequel to those movies..tom cruise should've taken john woo as director in this one..this movie is like any other b class movie except tom is in there..could've done better..chao
Rubbish. The first two films were brilliant and combined fantastic action with good plots. This has lots of 'seen it before' action. The plot is shockingly bad and a total waste of time. I'm sure this film signals the death knell for the Mission Impossible franchise.

This is the first film in 5 years that I've nearly walked out on if I wasn't there because i'd taken my 12 year old son the EXIT door would have been swinging after 20 mins.
To see Tom really struggling to act was painful ( possibly the direction he recieved?) because this guy really can (magnolia , 4th july ,collateral et al).
Is the M.I.F. riddled with turncoats? 'cos this is the 3rd film out of three to feature them.
Roll on the real summer movies please Mr. De Mille ..
p.s. my son thought it ok ..just ok
MI3 is your average story of Secret Agent meets nice girl & attempts to settle down to a nice, average existence and fails miserably. Our hero, Ethan Hawke, now works as an instructor for the IMF, following the disappearance of one of his former students, he goes back into the field to get her back & from that point onwards things start to go terribly, terribly wrong. The Mission Impossible franchise is about action, pure & simple, plot has always been a little bit thin on the ground & to be quite frank it's stretched to breaking point in this film. The romance angle is overplayed at the expense of the political intrigues of the film, which means that the fine assembly of actors in this film are grossly underused. Having said that it is a perfectly competent film, it's well made, it's very watchable. There are some good action scenes & suspenseful moments towards the end of the film but it's also quite predictable & there's nothing in it that hasn't been done before & done better.
There is a tendency to get caught up amongst all the hype surrounding a film, thus influencing people's opinion. In particular, movies such as MI:3. This is a very limited film with no innovation. What we have here is a poor attempt at imitating the original; a far superior film.
I hated this movie.
Pretentious rubbish. Pointless twists.
The two redeeming features are a cameo for Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) and the performance of Philip Seymour Hoffman, who tried to save this steamer but was surrounded by Tom (pretentious) Cruise, who at the moment is having a difficult time convicing me he's human let alone a secret agent. He stole the limelight and killed any emotional attatchment we might have developed for the other cast members. (even his smile has an air of condescension)
The film is TOO much action, & NO substance. I didn't care about any of the characters & didn't think the action was justified, or believable.
...I think I'm suffering from action apathy, that is film makers throw hundreds of over the top action sequences into a movie until you just dont care any more...
I gave this one star.
This film was rubbish and so was MI2.
MI1 Rocks? After the first film they should have left it there. It similar to The Terminator although 1 & 2 were great & 2 being the best and 3 being TRIPE.
Aviod this Rubbish.
Yes it has all been done before and this film won't have a long shelf life because it isn't the best of it's kind. However, die hard Tom Cruise Fans will love it because he looks great and fit for his 40 years. Mission Impossible fans will love it because it has tried and true formula of impossible situations and impossible stunts all wonderfully executed with the obvious outcoem of 'They all Lived Happily Ever After', well mostly.
I was glad to see they didn't over use the old, face and voice swap technology in every scene of the film, unlike MI2 which seemed to have so many people pretending to be other people it made my head ache.
The plot isn't complicated but well executed and the excellent cast keeps you guessing and there is a copious amount of action shoot-em-ups to suit all action fans.
ENJOY!!!!
I've just seen MI3 on a huge screen with 3 friends and we all loved it. We weren't looking for anything pretentious, just lots of fast paced action and a film that didn't take itself too seriously like some of these reviewers. In this regard, the film delivers; in bucketloads. It's not trying to be cool or clever, just big and noisy and that's what it is. People are expecting the film's director, JJ Abrams (Lost, Alias), to give the MI franchise a shake up but instead he has opted simply to stay true to the MI formula. However, in doing so he has delivered the best of the three movies (3,1,2). It is full on and there is no time to breathe or relax because the unrelenting action is so intense. The movie's greatest disappointment is its terrible ending which is Camembert central. However, cnsidering that it doesn't take itself seriously this hardly matters. If you're after something totally original and with an undertone of cool, stay clear, this is not for you. However, if you're after a high octane action flick that doesn't mind taking the rip out of itself, then this delivers and you'll enjoy it a lot.
