The sixth series of the iconic Mission Impossible sees the departure of Leonard Nimoy and Lesley Ann Warren, and the arrival of Lynda Day George. The four episodes on this first disk include the classic 'Blind', the opener for the season, which is easily amongst the top ten of the whole seven years that MI was recorded. Having moved gradually away from the plots set in unspecified Eastern Bloc or assorted Third World dictatorships, the enemy in this season is usually organised crime, referred to as the Syndicate. The operatives of the Syndicate are invariably cynical and ruthless, having escaped the clutches of American law enforcement, and it is up to Jim Phelps and his team to sort them out.
'Blind' features three very unattractive leading villains, one of whom, uniquely, is actually working for the Government. The twists and turns of the plot are exciting, and the final climax is well worth the wait. The other three episodes are also good, one featuring William Shatner. Your enjoyment of this, and the other episodes, will be enhanced if you can obtain a copy of the Channel Four book 'The Mission Impossible Dossier, written by Patrick J White.- Was this review helpful to you?
