This films tries to emulate the classic 2001 A Space Odyssey, but falls way short of the mark. You can see it desperately trying to be atmospheric, offering a realistic portrayal of space travel in the near future, however it comes across as just very slow and dull. You have to wait half way through the film before anyone gets to Mars and something interesting actually happens. The ending was predictable and straight out of a Walt Disney movie. Abort mission failure!

Awful but a good laugh

Mission to Mars: a balance of Science & Fiction

As a sci-fi fan, I am always keen to check out anything in this genre. I was not disappointed with Mission to Mars. I liked the realism of the sets, costumes and the space scene.
What the crew find when they arrive on Mars, was a wee bit unrealistic, but hey, this is science Fiction!! However, the reason behind what they find, and how they discover its purpose was not too over the top.
This is a fun film for all the family;however, it may be a bit slow for the under 13's.- Was this review helpful to you?
