I suggest you watch this with the fast forward button handy. Historically interesting yes, but overlong. The answer is in the commentary. These films were largely made as 'fairground' showpieces - a bit like the appeal of reality shows today - let's see ourselves on the movies! So long long shots of people coming out of church, because the more individuals they photographed, the more punters would turn up to see themselves at the fairground showing in the evening! Some interesting street scenes, particularly if you know Belfast or Dublin.
If I have a criticsm about the mitchell and kenyon series, they focused on the middle and higher classes,. Still brilliant to watch, but wished they'd have concentrated on all walks of life a bit more
