It is extraordinary that, with gangster-era America providing such a natural source of drama, director Michael Karbelnikoff should turn gritty reality into such an empty tale. Hampered by inanity and a tortuous plot, Christian Slater (as Lucky Luciano), Patrick Dempsey (Meyer Lansky) and Richard Grieco (Bugsy Siegel) still manage to look reasonably credible in period suits, while Anthony Quinn and Michael Gambon, as two hard-nut mobsters, supply the flair and fire.

Being probably the only 30 year old male in the UK to have not seen this film I was sceptical, however I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. The easy to follow story line and gritty characters keep you hooked throughout. The film helps you remember why cheeky chappy Christian Slater was so popular in the 80's and 90's. Good performances all round by the cast left me feeling satisfied with the movie.
