    outstanding acting

I first watched this series on television and was totally hooked from the first 10 minutes. It portrays just how hard it was for women to be accepted by society no matter what she was. It follows the highs and lows of moll flanders as she becomes rich then loses it all, she is a sucker for a good looking man and sometimes it is the wrong move as you will find out whilst watching. please enjoy it just like i did i cant wait to watch it again and again.

    Superb!

I remember this being shown on TV back in 1996, but i 'wasnt allowed' to watch it being only 12yo at the time. Now that im 23 i finally found it and watched it. Yes, there are lots of sex scenes in it and topless but its not there simply to shock or get a reaction from. It's all relevent to the film and definatly worth watching.

    Pistols cocked at 20 paces

Adapted for tv by the ubiquitous Andrew Davies, the story follows most of Defoe's novel with a few additions for a modern audience including an obligatory highwayman and tacked on lesbian romance, but interspersed with some glorious carry-on dialogue and comic set pieces. Apart from that it's pretty much true to the story.

Alex Kingston makes a great Moll during the ups and downs of her struggle for survival in the 18th C world. She is an ambiguous character and therefore compelling, always doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. Each time we find ourselves asking what would we have done in her place.

Not sure why it merits an 18 cert as content is quite mild in terms of nudity etc
