This series is unknown to everyone I have spoken too, a big hit over in the states however. This is a superbly written series, great acting from the cast, and it is wonderful to see how Monk solves each and every crime.

  • Bold And Brilliant.

From it's bold and brilliant pilot through to the end of this first series, Monk maintains a consistently high standard of writing, acting, and direction.

Monk is like no other modern T.V. detective, and would best be compared to Poirot, Miss Marple, and Sherlock Holmes. Comparisons no doubt frequently made before. Though all T.V. detectives have their quirks, none are quite like Adrian Monk, with his multiple OCDs and completely unsuitable but highly effective side kick, Sharona.

In some episodes you can pit your wits against the defective detective, but I doubt you'll ever solve the case before him. In others we are aware from the start who the culprit is and can sit back and root for the inevitable successful outcome.

But despite the common theme of Someone Dies, Monk Finds Normally Unspottable Clues, Bad Guy Goes To Jail, this series is anything but repetitive. In fact, each episode is highly unique, well written, and excellently shot.

Not sure why this didn't make it quite so big in the UK as in the US? It's a brilliant, laugh out loud series, fabulously acted and totally addictive.

  • Loved it, absolutely loved it.

Had previously read 2 of the books from the series and thought it sounded quite funny...spot on! Laughed like a drain, but also appreciated what a drain it can be if you have this condition. Good storylines, made better by Monks' condition. Wait till you meet his brother, an agrophobic!

Rented it but was abit disappointed as we kept comparing it to CSI. Would prefer CSI to this any time.

Watch it if you have some spare time, quite funny in some of the episodes.
