I'm too big to hunt!
By a customer from DUNOON , 11 Feb 2010[Highly rated reviewer]
Seriously too big. From playing the PSP games of this I'm holding my breath for big things. From the sheer veriety of wepon/armour combination and the special stats assosiated with them to the absolutely IMMENSE dragons you need to beat down for completion of most missions.
The main component lacking of the PSP games was that the multi-player was limited only to local play and this would be a much better game played as multi-player (I never knew anyone who had another PSP never mind the game when the 1st game was released on PSP). With the Wii this has been remedied. It's now an MMO of sorts. Not in the conventionall sense - IE with thousands off people wandering around you - but as I suspect with some form of matchmaking algorithm. The only draw back of this is the fact that there may well be a server maintenace fee charged, probably in the form of a monthly/yearly subscription, similar to Xbox Live. I am still undecided wheather or not I would be wiling to pay subscription fees to play an individual game but we will see how they plan to impliment this charge. Fingers crossed that there is no online play charge :D
In short this is a game for any RPG/Adventure fan. Done in a mission based format centraling around a single (or multiple) town. You buy supplys, armour and wepons all from 1 central hub (the town) then accept a mission, usually to collect a certain item from the level enviroment or to slay a certain foe- for example a wyvern or dragon.
From the vids and screenshots this game looks to be shaping up pretty wel. Thank you Capcom for ditching Sony and moving to Nintendo. A wise move for everyone!- Was this review helpful to you?

(11)Stop moaning it's hard, it is. And it's also awsome
By a customer , 18 Apr 2013DO NOT listen to those who give it poor marks for graphics (They ARE good and besides half the time if you are worried about it not looking nice you're gonna get your rear end handed to you) or those who give it low marks because it's hard and slow to get into. That's because it is and it is. HOWEVER this game is incredibly unique as despite being a fighting game you really will need to use your head and play defensive (Those who complain it's hard probably tried to whale a boss, that's not gonna work). The monsters are often smart either ambushing you, running away if weak or even calling for help. It can get a bit grindy grindy trying to get better kit but the satisfaction of getting it feels much better with the effort put in. And I also reccomend if you have bad eyesight don't even bother, the writing suffers from smallness (like every other modern game). Even if you've lost to a boss 100 times they all make you feel special once you've beaten them (and some you will be killed by a LOT). It's sheer depth of stats , items and intelligent combat (That's you that has to be intelligent, the AI all went into the monsters) it simply has no real rival for depth on the Wii. That said then, 4. 5 stars as it is truely great but sluggish to get into and it is truely hard even if you DO know what you're doing- Was this review helpful to you?

way too repetitive
By AuronGrande (47 reviews) , 31 May 2012This game, although looks fun, is just too repetitive. Not only that but the controls are awkward.
Let's start with the controls;
When fighting monsters, the attacks go one direction, and you're almost forced into doing combos. For example, you're in battle against a group of monsters, you face one of them and start attacking. You can't change direction between each attacks. You have to wait a couple of seconds after you attack before you can change direction.
Repetitiveness;
You're forced to gather food and other resources regularly, and quickly. When you kill a monster, you have to be quick to gather stuff from it before it vanishes. Not helpful when you're fighting a group of monsters.
You also need to do stuff like cooking and weapon sharpening far too frequently. I can understand adding these features adds a nice touch, but making it too quick ruins it. You weapons break far too quickly, and you stamina drains too quickly, causing you to repair your weapons while being attacked, and having to eat up your food stock too quickly.
Because of these, it put me off the game after only a couple of hours.
I would recommend people avoid this game.- Was this review helpful to you?
