Mexico is classified as an 'infected zone.' Infected with what, we hear you cry. Aliens!

    [Highly rated reviewer]

I watched this film in New York last week and for being made on the reported budget it is great.

Excellent acting performances, good characters, dialogue, soundtrack, locations and effects.

It feels real so you care about what is happening to the people, it is not just a mish mash of special effects and rubbish characters who do nothing that you would do in real life that you get from hollywood these days. They should learn something from this.

Well worth seeing, even although it's called Monsters you can even take the girlfriend/wife to see this one!

We had very high hopes for this film but were very disappointed in it. The special effects and acting were very good but the story and ending we felt were poor. I wouldn't recommend this film.

  • What are monsters?

In hindsight this movie reminds me a little of the movie Cloverfield.

Unlike Cloverfield that had a bigger budget this movie makes up for the lack of money with creative film making.

The pace of the movie is slow, you hear the monsters occasionally, but it's more than half way through the movie before you see some monster action. There's a teaser in the first chapter but it's mostly in the dark, with the cliche screaming by tough marines, oh yeah.

The movie was a kind of road trip, two people thrown together into a situation, trying to get somewhere but at almost every turn there are obstacles. And along the way there are a few discoveries for them.

This film whilst evidently funded by a small budget, really doesn't degrade the quality of the film, story, acting and the few - yet perfect amount - CGI monsters.

No, this film doesn't have a high body count, green screen CGI, explosions or Americans saving the world.

What it does have is an extremely believable script and genuine people that you really feel you can empathise with. In fact, this film seems more of a documentary. Another element worth mentioning is how arty some of the camera work is !

Anyone '1 starring' this film really should consider the likes of Skyline instead, i.e. a no-brainer.

even tho this was on a budget I waited and waited for something, anything exciting to happen. NO action, average story and waste of time. Skyline is much better, tho it did have a budget. I've seen better movies than monsters on youtube!!

Ok so it seems i'm about to go against the grain regarding Monsters. All i can say is if you suffer from insomnia then this is the film for you. This Has to be one of the slowest, dullest and most boring sci/fi movie ever commited to celluloid. Don't be fooled by the 5 star accolades on the dvd cover. Maybe i'm missing the point totally as most reviewers were in favour of the film, but when i sit down to watch a movie i want to be entertained, not sent to sleep thank you very much. Because in this flick nothing and i mean absolutely nothing happens. Don't waste 90 minutes of your life. Avoid at all costs.
