Who's a good comedian, then?

I first heard about 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' when I was 18,
so I am one of the 'new' fans, I'm afraid. However, the 1st Series of 'Monty Python' is a new, rare and exciting experience for me. My favourite sketches were: 'Storytime' - the stories were SO twisted! Hee hee!! - the 'restaurant' sketch - really dramatic, but funny!! -and 'The Funniest Joke in the World'. I don't think they revealed it in the end,
but everyone's sense of humor is different, so why shouldn't they?? Oh well....
I recommend that you watch these episodes only at night,
or in the afternoon when you are all alone and have nothing better to do. Or, if your friends share your sense of humour, invite them to your house and laugh out loud together. There is some slight nudity - and some of the 'cartoon' bits were slightly disturbing - but if you like comedy, or Monty Python, or something new and exciting, go for it!- Was this review helpful to you?

When it is good it is really really good.....
By Marc Sinclair from Brighton, UK , 02 Oct 2007... when it is bad it is awful? They must have realised the loveable Python boys, that no laughter in the audience meant that it was just not funny. Some items shine, and where obviously used in compilations and the film version AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT but in all 75% of this series was twaddle and I know true Python fans will want to shoot me down.
In my defence I will say thank god for all the rubbish as we did get some of the best humour of it's day out of four series of the BBC TV production. And on top of it some of the best British Comedy films made in the 70's and 80's.
Do give it a go though some of it will make you laugh out loud, some a glimmer of a smile on your face, where much of it might just make you want to reach for the DVD skip mode.- Was this review helpful to you?

"Far too silly " for words!
By a customer from Berkshire, England , 26 Jul 2007I wasn't allowed to watch this when it was first televised and I can now see why. The sketches have been copied and parodied so many times that some may find them old hat but if watch with the mind of someone from 1969 you wont be disappointed.
Stuffed to the gills withsurreal plots, innuendo and sketches without punchlines, or nay sense at all, not to forget brilliant animation (not a PC in sight) by Terry Gilliam , topped off with healthy irrevenrance and mickey take of politics, authority figures and idiosyncrasies of British life.
My teenage sons were too busy on their Xbox to watch it with us but it was just as well as we giggled like teenagers from start to finish. It was very, very silly! The wine also helped!- Was this review helpful to you?
