A valuable foot-tapping archive of Big Band in its heyday
This is a simple but broad collection of lots of jazz and big band numbers, some of which will be familiar to many people. My favourites were numbers by Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington and Count Basie - especially Cab Calloway's 'Minnie The Moocher'! It was good to discover less well know numbers, too...
The only minor disappointment was that several of the video clips 'jump'. I am sure that is because the original celluloid is degraded or missing. Even so, it was great to see the orchestras and artists in action. There are many CD and vinyl compilations from this era, but to see the performances was a joy! -
