Three escaped convicts foist themselves on the hospitality of a reclusive woman living in the impoverished deep south of the 1950's - not an original plot, but this is more a story about a lonely, recluse being forced to re-engage with humanity and with intimacy. Handled with a refreshing subtlety and simplicity in this age of comic-hero films and razzmatazz special effects. The baddies receive their just desserts and the goodies get a glimpse of the good stuff in their fellow human beings. Leaves one feeling wistful but uplifted. Go on, hire it. You could to a LOT worse.
Lousy story, lousy acting, lousy dialogue, lousy film.
