(3)Mozart Requiem
By SpringTimeAtLast (9 reviews) from Worthing, U.K. , 12 Oct 2009I could hardly bear it. This DVD is scratchy, tinny sounding .. not at all how I remember the concert. I listened to it for 5 minutes and then sent it back. Too awful.
It should be taken out of circulation!- Was this review helpful to you?

Mozart at his best
By a customer from East midlands , 06 Mar 2008Mozart's requiem music evokes, in part, the text of the mass for the dead in an extraordinarily moving way. But his requiem music is also skittish, even mocking, and out of sync with parts of the text of the mass, and the discord is striking.
Berstein brings out the best of both.
So it's a pity this preformance is spoiled by a regrettable and archaic english translation of the latin text of the requiem mass The original text is simple, plain and clear. That's not always the case with the translation.- Was this review helpful to you?
