One of the best pieces of choral work ever written. I can only listen to the section Mozart composed, after that it deteriorates for me. Despite that the singing was a joy and all of the soloists magnificent. All the notes one needs.
A great idea: make a wonderful recording of an historic Mozartian occasion into a video by combining it with modern and historic material associated with him.
Result: depends on the video producer and the budget. In this case, the main focus of the video material is shots and zooms of Mozart's and other composers' graves and memorials, some family place stuff and endless minutes of details of the Salzburg Cathedral, where the music was recorded. Nothing about the performance, the players or conductor, any text (presumably because this would be language-specific - so that's on the extras, not viewable while you listen); in fact, despite some interest in the settings, this much is bor-ing!
There is some thematic linking between the movements and the video footage, but this leads to the cause of the greatest irritation: music track endings and a couple of the starts are clipped off before the echoes cease and - unforgivably - the final note of the whole Requiem is cut.
A great performance spoiled. A good idea ruined.
