Such a nice, pleasant movie. Extremely well acted, Cary Grant at his very best and Myrna Loy makes the perfect foil. The comedy is played extremely well by two masters of that genre. It's the sort of movie to dig out and watch on a miserable, wet Sunday with a glass of wine (which is exactly what we did). It keeps you chuckling throughout, it's certainly not a brain challenger but a simple film that remains a classic, all the same. Rent it and smile!
The quintessential post-war American film with Cary Grant swapping his poky Manhattan flat for a pile in the country. The sort of film that wouldn't even have been conceived in Britain in 1948, it's aspirational wannahave stuff which rings true for our modern age sixty years later. Grant and Myrna Loy are very good and the throwaawy script helps a lot, as does Melvyn Douglas at his sardonic best as their know-it-all friend. This copy looks to have been remastered and is clear as crystal. Some great set pieces and fairly humorous moments.
