Popper's Penguins Provide PleasureBy RedDex (18 reviews) from Hampshire , 24 Jul 2011
[Highly rated reviewer]Mr Poppers Penguins is the sort of film we dont really see that much anymore - good, old-fashioned, wholesome family fun. Theres something in here for all ages, and someone to identify with for every member of the family. It is a family film though, this is not a film youre going to go and see with a group of friends, its the sort of film youre going to take your kids and your nieces and nephews to, and theyll like it. Theyll like it because of the cute penguins and the realistic CGI and youll like it not just because it keeps them quiet but also because its harmless fun.
A lot of the chuckles come from the penguins antics, and there are certainly plenty of aahhhhh moments, but there are also some witty moments too, clearly meant for the adults in attendance.
A lot of the story is clichéd - the high-flying executive who doesnt have time for his family, who eventually comes to realise the true value of life - isnt anything new, it just happens to be via a colony (crèche, huddle and parcel are also acceptable collective nouns) of penguins in this instance!

perfectly pleasant but predictableBy mauro (8 reviews) , 06 Feb 2012The laughter is intermittent and is ultimately overwhelmed by a wave of sentimentality. That said the Penguins particuarly portray a picture of positiveness!
Alrighty then, Excellent!By a customer , 06 Feb 2012If you love Jim Carrey then rent this film. Combines his excellent acting with some cheeky and very funny penguins. Light hearted film ideal for a family afternoon. We laughed and truly enjoyed this brilliant movie.

Loved itBy a customer , 03 Feb 2012Loved it - a lovely warm-hearted family film - funny at many points too. Jim Carey a little more towards his older characters - very enjoyable.
A pile of penguin poopBy Alison31 (72 reviews) from Eastleigh , 03 Feb 2012With Jim carey being one of my all time favourite actors and penguins being my all time favourite speices of wildlife, then by rights I should have found this movie one of the best I have ever seen. Unfortunatly not. Yes Mr Carey is still great, and yes the penguins were cute, but I could nt help feeling this was yet another namby pamby storyline where Jim gets to play a sucsessful proffesional, yet deadbeat dad doing his best to win back his ex wife through finding the error of his ways and doing a good deed. Remember Liar Liar anyone?? Well this was exactly the same yet without the brilliant, spontanous comedy we have come to expect from a Jim Carey film.
