Standard loser gets sucess comedy fareBy PaulaWestwood (397 reviews) from Ashton-Under-Lyne , 04 Oct 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]Mr Woodock (Billy Bob Thornton) is well cast as the sargeant major gym teacher at high school who puts his pupils through a humilating wringer, one of his class 'Farley' (Sean William Scott) is a particular favourite pupil, due to having a bit of puppy fat present he gets some special attention from Woodock, but lo and behold later in life becomes a slim writer of mentoring and life enhancement books. Before bumping into Woodock again in an excruciatingly awkward way potentially for both of them. Yes, this does sound pretty samey so far, its a never offensive quite funny standard comedy, but nothing more I'm afraid, a sort of sunday afternoon lazy watch rather than a nailed on must see. If you liked Thornton in 'Bad Santa' you might find this o.k., if not it is similar ground and you would be forgiven for giving this a miss.

Mr WoodcockBy InflamedPigeon (11 reviews) from Ashford , 27 Apr 2010A good laughs long as you not expecting to much from it, not William-Scotts best movie but dose have some laughs.
Quite tame and given a 12 rating, this is something the family could watch and have a laugh with.
This is a tale that i think alot of people could relate too, eveyone has or had a teacher at school who they didnt really like and may have had a run in with (not quite like Mr Woodcock though i would hope) and that if you found them years later shaked up with your mum you might react in a similar way.
Some parts a very funny and i would give it a go but there are better comedys out there with these guys in like Bad Santa and Role Models... both are abosloute class!
Mr WoodcockBy nodi7 (5 reviews) from Glasgow , 07 Feb 2010Not impressed. Only a few lame laughs and Billy Bob Thornton, was just boring.

Not as funny as the trailerBy BOBBY101 (5 reviews) from Eastbourne , 12 Jan 2010In truth, see the trailer and you've seen the film. However, the film is still worth seeing as the jokes are obviously expanded on, and the characters are opened up. BB Thornton is great as the Bully PT teacher, while SW Scott manages to keep up with him as his opposite. Its funny, daft, and warm although it fairly standard viewing.
