Period thriller that looks better than it plays; it never fully engages an audience's attention, and the ending is unsatisfactory.

      Good fun

I rented this mainly because I like Jennifer Connelly and she does look radiant (except when she plays dead). However, Nick Nolte has a great role as leader of... read more »

      Quite good

Watchable. Although you were wondering who dunnit and why, it was all very simple at the end. Like the way that they dealt with criminals.

Nick Nolte on top form in this 50`s America whodunnit, if you liked L.A.Confidential then this is for you, great acting/scenery and good twist.

      Almost as good as Chandler

Greay sense of time and atmosphere. Noir but laconoic and casually brutal with a touch of dead pan humour. Very watchable --- and lingers.

      Unfortunately average

      Elroy-esque!

The Time Out spiel is a bit harsh. If you like your detectives to use beaver tail saps whilst you eat your Sunday roast with the Mrs, this is a good one.read more »
