    [Highly rated reviewer]

Nasty, exploitative, perverted fourth-rate 'Saw'....how anyone can sit through this is beyond me....as a horror fan I was looking forward to a well constructed and, yes, horrific, in parts, movie...but not a cheap nasty trashy piece of work like this. Goodness knows how it all ends because I couldn't watch more than the first half hour. Depressing, maudlin, derivative....and BORING ! A shocker....in the worst possible way.

Not many movies or film scenes have made me feel rather sick since I discovered the fabulous genre of horror as a naive teenager, either through gory blood and guts content, disturbing plot twists or just through good old fashioned awful acting and terrible storylines. However, Saw 5 managed it, as did Cannibal Holocaust, Human Centipede and Rouge River. And so did Mum and Dad.

As a film in general, I though it was pretty good. A decent somewhat original idea, belivable characters, and enough blood and body parts to identify it as a horror film. I was impressed enough to reccomend it, and disturbed enough by its depravity to still be talking about the gross bits days later.

So what makes it so infamously sick and twisted? Yes there was blood, and severed heads and weird Christmas tree ornaments but for me, it was the thought that although people can look like a perfectly normal family on the 'outside', behind closed doors, the reality can be completly different. Ok so the chances of most daddies having a torture chamber straight out of the set of Hellraiser are slim, but the more this film played out, the more it starts to dawn on you that actually yes there are people whom are sexually sadistic enough to enjoy mutilating people and think its normal behaviour. After all Fred and Rose West existed did nt they?

Liked it! Yes, low budget, but what does that matter - have you seen the state of some of the CGI effects these days? Its like a Texas Chainsaw massacre right here in Hounslow...without the chainsaw. And the bad dad reminds me of a fat version of my ex so was satisfying to see his comeuppance played out on the screen he he he. There are some trully gross scenes too, but not taken as far as the likes of a Serbian Film thank god :)

    Enjoy!

I had watched this film before when I was at college and was absolutely teffiried whilst watching it. I then decided I wanted my husband to see how awful it was and found it not AS distressing, but still SICK.

Really good film, but I wouldn't watch if you're squeemish.

I’m going to start this review by admitting that I’m about to give this film 4/5 stars. I’m doing this now because I’m slightly ashamed to admit it.

Basically, this film ‘Mum and Dad’ is pretty sick. I’m not sure what sort of person enjoys watching something like it, but, apparently, I’m it.

A young cleaning girl at a British airport is lured home where she’s held captive by ‘Mum’ and ‘Dad’ (obviously), plus their equally twisted offspring. If your mind is as twisted as mine, you can probably imagine some of the things that she witnesses and subsequently happens to her while she’s shackled and chained. So, if you want to watch something like that then you should enjoy a film as brutal as this.

It’s made on a shoestring of a budget, but it doesn’t really need many special effects to get its point across. It’s one of the rare cases where a film really doesn’t need a budget to make it any good.

If you’re in the mood for something sick, give it a go. Also, if you used to watch the happy-go-lucky BBC sit-com ‘You Rang M’lud?’ in the eighties, then you might remember the innocent and loveable ‘Henry’ from the show. Now watch him in Mum and Dad and you’ll never be able to look at him the same way again.

  • One of the best Low-Budget horrors you'll see.

Taking the budget into consideration, this film is one of the best low-budget horror films you'll find. There's some truly disturbing, morbid scenes, and the film will mess with your emotions leaving you feeling drained, yet relieved.

Olga Fedori's acting is a highlight, you really connect with the character and feel her frustration towards what's going on.

The effects which are used are also pretty graphic considering the amount of money put into this film.

Overall it's a good movie and is well worth a watch if you're a fan of the horror genre.
