    Darkly comic -- English style

Watch this for its retro feel -- even for the 1970s, when it was produced, it had a slightly vintage, Agatha Christie feel, to it.

Gentle humour with patches of dark comedy in this detective series, set in 'Flaxborough', believed to be based on Lincoln.

Anton Rodgers plays the lead detective, a 'good egg' type, much giving to thoughtful puffing on his pipe.

Watch him tangle with the delightful Miss Teatime, a winsome late middle-aged conwoman, who's given me my role model for later life.

    Fun, gentle, very English!
