Tough drama
By a customer from London , 08 Sep 2008Perhaps whats most suprising is that after two series which were closer too all the other fairly dull and mundane British cop dramas out there that the BBC were willing to change a fairly inoffensive series with a cheeky Irish undercover cop solving crimes involving nuns and the like..
What you get in this series is a brilliant tough cop drama. James Nesbitt is superb, after previous roles I wasn't sure i'd buy him as a tough guy, but he carries it off to a tee. You believe he is hard enough to take on underworld types and kick their arses. Gone are the twee murder mysteries of the Midsummer murders type, instead you get all too realistic drug dealers on run down estates, stupid brutal killers and assorted lowlife. It's as close as any British cop drama has got to matching the quality of American output like the Shield.
Rent this if you like your police to be hard nuts who force a result rather than following a predictable set of clues to a Scooby Doo ending- Was this review helpful to you?
