We loved this! My wife's choice and I knew what to expect - but admit this was better than I was anticipating.
I know it may not be everybody's cup of tea, but if you love the rom-com genre and a laugh at a film which can laugh at itself and have a giggle at the 80's music scene then you'll love it too.
Hugh Grant was pretty much cast in character as you'd expect (which isn't a bad thing!), and with Drew Barrymore in support it worked brilliantly. The rest of the supporting cast were very good and there are enough one liners in there to keep the giggles going throughout.
Obviously the romantic twist is there but even then its so tongue in cheek its not too OTT for the blokes! The story's pretty good and it follows all the tried and tested rom-com principles.
Great couples film (or a group of lasses I suppose, not butch enough for us guys alone!) - and if you were a teenager in the 80s and into Wham, Spandau Ballet and the like you'll crease yourself laughing - we did! Enjoy.
I just finished watching this film and was suprissingly impressed. I had totally forgotten that i had put this on my rental list, but am i glad that i did ... YES. I saw the trailer for the film on TV when it was on at the cinema and had absolutely no desire to see it (I added it to my rental list as someone recommended it to me). I admit that it is quite predictable, but an all-round 'feel-good' film and worth watching. Hugh Grant was very funny as usual and Drew Barrymore is great to (in many ways). I do have one bad thing to say about this film though, as the film has music throughout you will be singing the songs for the rest of the day (even the bad one by 'POP'), whether you like them or not. Ha ha.
So overall, I would definately recommend Renting this film as it's definately worth a watch, just DON'T WATCH THE TRAILER ... it makes the film look awful.

Hugh Grant was doped up on anti-anxiety pills during the filming of Music And Lyrics - to combat his crippling panic attacks. The actor has been candid about his chronic anxiety, which began when he made 1999's Notting Hill with Julia Roberts and became most severe while he was shooting the 2007 romantic comedy with Drew Barrymore. Grant admits he was terrified of the disorder, and turned to powerful anti-anxiety medication lorazepam to get through the project. He says, "I did the whole film... Read more
