Great, lighthearted fun!
By MiserabLes (34 reviews) from Newcastle upon Tyne , 19 Oct 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
We loved this! My wife's choice and I knew what to expect - but admit this was better than I was anticipating.
I know it may not be everybody's cup of tea, but if you love the rom-com genre and a laugh at a film which can laugh at itself and have a giggle at the 80's music scene then you'll love it too.
Hugh Grant was pretty much cast in character as you'd expect (which isn't a bad thing!), and with Drew Barrymore in support it worked brilliantly. The rest of the supporting cast were very good and there are enough one liners in there to keep the giggles going throughout.
Obviously the romantic twist is there but even then its so tongue in cheek its not too OTT for the blokes! The story's pretty good and it follows all the tried and tested rom-com principles.
Great couples film (or a group of lasses I suppose, not butch enough for us guys alone!) - and if you were a teenager in the 80s and into Wham, Spandau Ballet and the like you'll crease yourself laughing - we did! Enjoy.- Was this review helpful to you?

Grant should be banned
By Colonel1968 (256 reviews) , 09 May 2012Even by his poor standards Grant is poor in this, well he is Grant the luckiest actor inthe world. Terribly obvious film, with one of the worst endings I have ever seen cringe worthy.
Barrymore is sexy as always and the only reason I watched this crock- Was this review helpful to you?

If you were a teenager in the 80's you have got to watch this film
By LMGibbs (1 review) , 07 May 2012Brilliant film, I thought I was having flashbacks. It really captures the crapness and fun of 80's pop. A really excellent movie well worth watching.- Was this review helpful to you?

Heart warming pick me up
By Bannon1975 (12 reviews) from Hamilton , 30 Apr 2012A lovely predictible happy film. Great for a pick me up, oozing Hugh Grant's usual charm. This film has made it to the top of my favourite chic flics list. I could have watched it all again right away. Barrymore and Grant were great on screen together. Perfect for anyone who likes films like Two Weeks Notice, Maid in Manhattan or How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days- Was this review helpful to you?
