Another Beautifal Film

A true masterpiece of cinema. It's not all about Hollywood and fancy FX, and this film shows real emotions, hopes, love and fear, something that seems to have been lost in Hollywood films. The lead actors have wonderful chemistry, and this was an utter delight to watch.

Interesting... although ultimately disappointing

I rented this film solely on the basis that the excellent Eduardo Noriega was in it, only to find that he has a 'cameo' in the final 10 minutes or so of the film! Anyway, Vanessa Paradis has a choice role as a prostitute who takes a call intended for someone else and ends up collecting a teenager from a home to take to his mother, only for the mother to be murdered in the interim. The developing relationship between the teenager and hooker is very touchingly handled, but the main failing of the film is that the 'sub plot' involving a safety deposit key, a large amount of money and a nasty pimp chasing them for the money is not fully developed or concluded and in a way, is rather pointless to the storyline. Still, the scene where the son is confronted with the body of his mother is pretty harrowing and Paradis's acting is spot on. Worth a watch.
