Adam Baldwin's debut!
By Henrik Hansen from Battersea, England , 08 Apr 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
If you're a Firefly fan you should check this out. Long before he played Jayne, Adam Baldwin starred in this coming of age movie. I must admit it's refreshing to see a High School movie with actors who are the right age. Notable too for an early performance by Matt Dillon as the school bully.- Was this review helpful to you?

(4)Much Better than the Theatrical Trailer!
By Brighouse1971 (155 reviews) from Brighouse, WY , 04 Oct 2010I actually came to this movie after a friend recommended it to me.
I then watch the official Trailer, and got really bored by that....
BUT what a pleasant surprise this movie was!
Its such a poignant drama about teenager and their angst of growing up and the battle of their daily life.
In High School!
Being bullied and coping with the fact of being not part of the cool crowd.
About an alliance with a big School Criminal out of sheer desperation...
which then grows into a deep friendship beyond all odds.
Sure the main plot is like every other High school drama but the little side stories make this movie still quite a treasure!

Still as good as ever
By a customer from Cardiff , 27 Jan 2009Great film.
Still as good today, ignore the dated comments, it was the eighties after all.
Look out also for TURK182. Another classic.
Really enjoyed it again- Was this review helpful to you?

lost art of storytelling
By dave bradshaw from London, England , 19 Jul 2006Even thought it was released in 1980 I consider this a 1970's film. There is a golden quality to 70's films that seems to have been forgotten, too bad since the obsevational style of some of those films makes storytelling compelling. My Bodyguard shows you how young Matt Dillon actually was before all the other roles where he remained incredibly young. We get our first look at Adam Baldwin who later went on to play Earth Mother in 'Full Metal Jacket', and check out Joan Cusack as a school girl. Of course Chris Makepeace should have gone on to greater things ( I swear I saw him tending bar with Mark Lester). You can't go wrong and you wont regret this rental. Snuggle up with your favorite anything and keep that hot mug of Horlicks close at hand. If possible, book a time and location where you can stretch like a teenager and drift off to sleep directly after viewing.- Was this review helpful to you?
