Please could i have my boy jack dvd please Because i really won't to watch it
I missed 'My Son Jack' when it was televised so was glad of the opportunity of seeing it on DVD.
Everyoe loves Rudyard Kipling's stories and what a delightful if misguided man .He was obviously patriotic to the extreme, but why oh why did he go to such lengths to get his young, myopic, son, Jack, a commission in the army.Jack of course, with so many other young lads, was killed at the battle of Loose in 1915, his body never having been recovered. The family at home, just waiting and hoping that he is only 'missing in action' and perhaps a prisoner of war somewhere. What agony the family went through and what 'guilt' his father must have felt at his insistance and interferance . Daniel Radcliffe as Jack and David Haig as Rudyard Kipling deserve an award for their truly great performances . They portrayed Jack and Rudyard with such sensitivity and warmth. The whole screenplay is outstanding. David Haig should get two awards really, one for his acting as Rudyard Kipling and one for his wriing of this screenplay 'My Boy Jack'..
The outcome is so sad - the story of this lovely boy Jack and his father the greatest story teller. This is T V drama at its very best.
This is a very good film, that makes you think and feel like you were there, however it is a little ploddy at times.

I don't know if it was Daniel Radcliffe's acting or David Haig's but somehow both performances, I found, were unemotionally involving, and that was a great shame. The story appeared to have been written in such a hurry, even though David Haig undoubtedly researched the characters over many years. For me there was a feeling of emptyness about the whole thing. And I would have liked to have seen at the end of the film, just before the credits go up, a few words about what exactly happened to the Kiplings after the war had ended and what efforts, if any, KIpling made to atone for his terrible mistake. Unusual these days for a writer whose story is based on fact not to enlighten the audience with a postscript.

it was alright, nothing special. it's worth watching but wouldn't watch again
My Boy Jack brings the first world war period to life. We see how the larger than life personality and patriotism of Rudyard Kipling overwhelms his young son. A truly tragic story displaying the futility of war, wonderfully portrayed by fine acting, hits the emotions hard.
Daniel Radcliffe escapes from Pottering for this odd World War One tale about Rudyard Kipling's son, Jack. Uber patriot Kipling can't wait to see his teenaged son in uniform and sent to the Front to do his duty. Jack, despite chronically poor eye-sight, eventually receives his commission and is duly dispatched. Like millions of others, he never returns. The Kipling family is left to reflect...
A Really Great Film Telling the Story of the Hardships of The 1st World War. Truly Excellent Acting and Superbly Wrote. A Must For All
this is a top quality film. First class performances in almost every case. the juxtaposition of the english countryside with the french war field added to the horror of the war and of the event in which so many young men died. A deeply moving film which will stay with me for a long time.
