Scarlett Johansson (Ghost World, The Man Who Wasn't There) has found fame since she starred in this comedy fantasy about a boy's accidental transformation into a pig. Though Johansson has the starring role, much of the focus falls on Eva Mendes, as the nanny whose magical powers bring misfortune upon the curious Nick Fuoco. It's a predictable race-against-time romp, but the Mexican setting is interesting, even though director Erik Fleming does little to dispel cultural stereotypes.
Unbelievable plot but your children will like it and should keep them quiet for an hour or so. Plenty of laughs if you are a child! Adults will nod off, I did.
Not recommended for adults to sit through as it was like watching paint dry!
Beware any film starring Judge Reinhold that claims to be a horror film. We watched half of this cute film before we gave up. If your idea of a horror film is one that features a piglet being driven around in a car, then this is for you. If not, be warned!
