  • Great film if you're in the mood..

I love this film - some might hate it however if they don't relax into the flow of the moment.

I think it's timeless in its content however certainly a child of the 70s in concept. It must be watched in one sitting and preferably without interruption. If you're up for an experience that makes you think about life etc. rather than 'entertainment' then this is the film for you. An unappreciated masterpiece in its way. I highly recommend it ... and if you're in the right place in your life and in the right mood - you won't be able to thank me enough.

I was in Prison in France in 2000 when I first saw this - it gave me a taste of reality - great film!

An absolutely fascinating film of a conversation between two old friends and new yorkers which draws you in slowly and made me desperate to join them at that table just so i could be a part of it. If your one to ponder all the little things in life a bit more than you think you should, this movie is made for you.

  • Dinner with Coffee and Cigarettes.

Though I get the uniqueness of it and there are some really charming moments of acting and general Woody Alleniness, I have to say that at the end of the day it is mainly talking heads and at times quite archaic talking heads, which is not very cinematic and at times boring.

I couldn't help thinking that Jim Jarmush's Coffee and Cigarettes is a funnier, more interesting and more engaging version of this sort of idea.

I am glad, however, that I saw it, if only to be able to finally make the connection of the endless references to this film I came across on other films television and of course Community.

  • A Conversation with three people

    Rated - 5.0 stars

The waiter I have included in the review, his silence is watch-able but does not distract from the conversation taking place at the table.

I loved this and found it summed up my world. superficial at the beginning and the struggle when the conversation changes and starts to challenge. Well... it challenges the other guy not Andre. I think it challenges the waiter too.

They discuss how it is difficult to talk about deepness or feelings in society and even friendships.

Yep its deep but not pretentious. Phew can't have pretentious, which is the eyes of the beholder. Maybe in the eyes of the waiter me thinks.

  • Experimental - and failed

2 men talk about modern theatre and life experience over dinner in a restaurant.

I was really looking forward to this, and tried so hard to stay awake for the whole movie, but failed on 3 separate occasions.

Watch it in daylight, with lots of strong coffee and in company.

It might have made an interesting play, where the conversation would be more immediate to the audience, but for me, it just doesn't work as a film on a screen.

Some fascinating snippets of conversation, but ultimately self-indulgent and dreary.
