'Unable to love each other, the english turn natually to dogs' - J.K.Ackerley

An old english gentleman has been seeking friendship among humans but is unsucessful.

He finds a german shepherd by the name of Tulip. They do become inseparable friends.

But he doe's get more then he expected as Tulip is quite the character.

A wonderful true story written by J.K.Ackerley that has been beautifly hand drawn.

A reconmend to watch, Will make you chuckle.

  • Turned my stomach, turned off the film

Had to stop watching after 12 minutes. Yes, the animation is original and quite lovely. Yes, the voice of Mr Plummer is most listenable as the quaintly eccentric dog owner. But the multiple references to - and animations of - dog mess so turned my stomach, I had to turn the film off! I could SMELL the filthy stuff, and the environments which dog and owner visit. In a way, of course, this is very effective film making! But I can't help my response, here. If you're the sort of person (usually a man, I find) who enjoys scatological amusement, then this is right down your alley... I happen to like Alsatian dogs and have met a very sweet [female dog; dammit I'm not allowed to use the correct term!], altho' she was calmer than Tulip. But the opening minutes of this film include everything that makes me, when all is said and done, a devoted cat person... :D

I really enjoyed this film. Beautifully animated, with very witty and amusing narration. Takes a little while to warm up but keep with it, definitely worth watching

  • Boring and Unpleasant

This animation is predominantly concerned with the practicalities of mating the dog and the amount of excrement she produced. I was disappointed there was very little about the bond between man and dog. I felt the explicit illustration of mating unsuitable for a rating of 12.
