In this clever twist on The Odd Couple format, two grouchy ex-Presidents, one Democrat and one Republican, are thrown together on Air Force One, and then hit the road, pursued by the secret service. Old-timers Jack Lemmon and James Garner squabble for the best lines in this gentle satire on American politics and middle America. In a notable supporting cast, Dan Aykroyd is the current President, John Heard the vice president, while Lauren Bacall makes a memorable ex-First Lady.
An uneasy mix of weak political satire and thriller, with the Odd Couple pairing of Lemmon as an uptight conservative and Garner as a libidinous liberal, swopping insults as they dodge bullets.
Need i say anymore? Probably not but im going to anyway, the cast is perfect. the jokes are good. the idea is wonderful. The ending is a hilarious twist. Why didn't they make a sequel? :(
