I will keep this short and sweet - a very powerful and moving film, showing how a terminal illness can effect not just the sufferer but also the different members of the family. Some fantastic acting - and an accurate portrayal of Leukaemia - a truly horrible disease which took my own brother at the age of 4. A real emotional rollercoaster - capturing some magical moments as well as some heart wrenching scenes - get the tissues ready.
I must recommend this film, so very bittersweet. You will smile and cry lots! I ran out of tissue so make sure you have plenty. Just a lovely film which as the other reviewers have said, not only talks about leukaemia from the view of the person who has it, but also its effect on the wider family. Doesnt make any grand or showy gestures, instead it attempts to be as real as possible with human emotions, and succeeds. Also I was very doubtful about the casting of Cameron Diaz as the mother of teenage children, but completely forgot about that within the 1st 10mins.
A tearjerker about an eleven-year-old girl, Anna (Abigail Breslin) suing her parents for emancipation of her body so that she can’t be made to donate her kidney to her cancer-ridden older sister… This is not the kind of movie I would normally pay to see, I have to admit. That said, in some respects this family melodrama did exceed my low expectations.
